Merry Christmas!

A apresentação de Natal da turma do English Program - Moema para os pais acontecerá no dia 3 de dezembro, às 18h30min.
Já o grupo do Aeroporto participará de um delicious Christmas Breakfast e Christmas Snack, em 05/12.

Halloween

O Halloween do English Program foi assustador! Os alunos vieram com muita disposição para as brincadeiras. Fizeram até um concurso de travessuras!

The Halloween was very scary in the English Program! The students come ready for the games! They even had a tricks contest!

Gases and Volume

This experiment shows how, because molecules in a gas are father apart, gases take up more space than equivalent amounts of solid or liquids. Mixing bicarbonate of soda with vinegar causes a chemical reaction that releases the gas carbon dioxide.

You will need:

· Vinegar
· Bicarbonate of soda
· Ballon
· Spoon
· Narrow-necked bottle

1. Take a small narrow-necked bottle, and carefully pour in vinegar until it is about one-quarter full. Warming the vinegar will speed up the reaction.
2. Pour bicarnonate of soda into the neck of the ballon through a funnel. Tap the funnel occasionally if it clogs up. Fill the ball of the ballon with the soda.
3. Keeping the balloon hanging down, stretch the neck over the bottle neck. Once it is secure, lift the balloon quickly so that the bicarnonate falls into the bottle - shake it if necessary.

Blow up:

As soon as the bicarbonate meets the vinegar, it begins to fizz as carbon dioxide gas is released, slowly inflating the balloon.

Teacher Andrea did this experiment with her Friday Class. After we did it, we wrote and drew a report about what we had seen.

Cup Cakes

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cups powder chocolat
1 tps salt
1 tps vanilla extract
1/2 tps baking powder
2 eggs
3/4 cup sour milk or yogurt
3/4 cup softened butter
3/4 cup water

Mix all the ingredients together for 3 minutes, high speed.
Pour the dough ino paper cups. Bake for 15 - 20 min (180°C)

Os alunos divertem-se muito durante as aulas de teatro, às 6as feiras! Em um dos jogos, cada um representou uma parte de um animal. Juntos, formaram cobras, pássaros etc.
The students are having a lot of fun in the theater classes on Fridays! In one of the games each person was a part of the animal. We have formed snakes, birds etc.

"Carnival"

O Carnaval do English Program também foi muito divertido! Os alunos conheceram um pouco sobre a origem dessa festa e sobre como ela é celebrada em outros países. Depois, participaram de um super "Carnival Ball" (festa de Carnaval), com direito a confete e serpentina.
They had a lot of fun!

Presentation

The Parents Evening held on Septenber 13th and 20th showed works made by students about our theme "Houses & Homes".
There were also the presentation of "The Three Little Pigs" and some songs about activities made at home.
The students and their families had a very enjoyable time!

Alunos do English Program vão à Casa da Tartaruga

Para finalizar o projeto Creepy Crawlies, trabalhado durante o mês de abril, as crianças do English Program participaram de um divertido field trip à Casa da Tartaruga, na Granja Viana - espaço onde se realiza um trabalho de reprodução e manutenção de répteis, aves, peixes, além de mamíferos. Além do contato com diferentes animais e o enriquecimento de vocabulário, o passeio também representou uma oportunidade para despertar nas crianças a consciência ecológica. E tudo isso em inglês!

Creepy crawlies

O tema de abril é "creepy crawlies", ou seja, insetos e outros bichos que causam arrepios! As crianças conheceram novas palavras, ampliando seu vocabulário. Elas também trabalharam com as partes do corpo de uma borboleta e, para finalizar, fizeram este exercício:

The theme of the month is "creepy crawlies". The children are learning about insects and other disgusting creatures. They studied the parts of the body of a butterfly and did this exercise.

"Easter Breakfast/Snack"

No dia 15/4 os pais de alunos do English Program tiveram a oportunidade de saborear nosso "Easter Breakfast/Snack" - que contou com um delicioso bolo de cenoura especialmente feito por nossos "cozinheiros mirins". Nesse encontro, as crianças também cantaram e apresentaram um livro confeccionado por elas.
Foi maravilhoso! Agradecemos a todos que nos prestigiaram!

Last April 15th, the English Program had our Easter Breakfast/Snack, with a delicious carrot cake made by the children. The kids presented a booklet prepared by them and also sang Easter songs.
It was great! Thanks for everybody who joined us!

No Storytime da semana do dia 25/03, as crianças prepararam
um "chocolate chips cookies". Confira a receita.

Great American Chocolate Chips Cookies

Ingredients:
2 sticks of butter (2 tabletes de margarina)
¾ cup of granulated sugar (açúcar cristal)
¾ cup of brown sugar (açúcar mascavo)
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (essência de baunilha)
2 eggs
2 ¼ cups of flour (farinha de trigo)
1 teaspoon of baking soda (fermento)
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (chocolate meio amargo picado)

Heat oven. In a large mixer bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs. Stir togheter flour and baking soda. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop dough onto ungreased cookie sheet (colocar pequenas porções de massa numa assadeira não untada). Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until brown.
Cool slightly.
