Newsletter Book 3 – Grupo da Tarde
Hello, dear parents!
Time has flown! We´ve just finished our first trimester and that has been so much fun that we´ve barely noticed!
We started the English Program this year in a very romantic way… We´ve learned the origins of Valentine´s Day and we found out that it´s a great chance to show our beloved ones (family and friends) just how much we love them!
The children also learned that Carnival in England is celebrated having a different –and funny- game as one of its biggest traditions. People call it ‘’pancake race’’. We learned about its history and meaning, and in the end we all played it in the court. They had a great time!
Our school, Augusto Laranja, has been the main subject of study so far. We´ve invited each child to think about the place that she/he spends most of the time at. The students have had the opportunity to talk about their favorite things regarding the school routine.
While sharing our preferences, observations and conclusions, each child experiences a meaningful learning that takes his/her background in consideration. In this sense, the group has developed the skills that are necessary for the acquisition of a second language.
They expand their vocabulary and comprehension as they are encouraged to share their experiences and thoughts. That happens in a welcoming environment in which each student is motivated to sing, to play educational games and to enjoy arts and crafts, drama and reading sessions.
Having fun, challenging and interesting activities that are related to the students daily lives and reality is the teaching approach we believe. And that´s how we will work through the second trimester as well, when lots of surprises wait for us!
We will learn about ‘’Peter and Claire’’, a couple of twins that love the sea world and all its mysteries. They are the main characters of our readers book, in which the children will improve their communication skills by learning about nature, ecology, sports and much more! In a contextualized manner, we will also go over the English alphabet getting deeper into the pronunciation dynamics and structure. Everything is planned beforehand bearing in mind that the instruction must be fun, exciting and, most of all, it has to make sense to the student.

Olá, queridos pais!
O tempo voa! Nós encerramos o primeiro trimestre do English Program e tudo tem sido tão divertido, que mal percebemos!
Este ano iniciamos nossas atividades de uma forma muito romântica! Aprendemos as origens do Valentine´s Day e descobrimos que é uma ótima chance de mostrar aos que são importante para nós (família e amigos) o quanto os amamos!
As crianças também aprenderam que o Carnaval na Inglaterra é celebrado tendo um jogo diferente – e engraçado - como uma de suas maiores tradições. Ele é conhecido como ‘a corrida da panqueca’! Nós vivenciamos sua história e significado e, ao final, realizamos essa corrida na quadra. Foi um momento maravilhoso!
Nosso Colégio, o Augusto Laranja, tem sido o assunto principal de nosso estudo até então. Temos convidado cada criança a refletir sobre o local onde passa a maior parte de seu tempo. Os alunos tiveram, então, a oportunidade de falar sobre os aspectos favoritos de sua rotina escolar.
E, enquanto compartilha preferências, observações e conclusões, cada criança experimenta um aprendizado significativo, que considera e respeita seu conhecimento prévio de mundo. Desse modo, o grupo tem desenvolvido as habilidades que são necessárias para a aquisição de um segundo idioma.
As crianças expandem seu vocabulário e compreensão conforme são encorajadas a compartilhar experiências e pensamentos. Isso ocorre em um ambiente acolhedor, no qual cada aluno é motivado a cantar, a participar de teatro, artes, jogos educativos e sessões dinâmicas de leitura.
Estar em contato com atividades interessantes, desafiadoras e divertidas, que são relacionadas à realidade diária do aluno é a abordagem pedagógica na qual acreditamos. E é assim que trabalharemos no segundo trimestre também, quando muitas surpresas aguardarão por nós!
Nós aprenderemos sobre ‘’Peter e Claire”, um casal de gêmeos que ama o mar e todos seus mistérios. Eles são os personagens principais de nosso livro de leitura, por meio do qual cada criança vai aprofundar suas habilidades de comunicação através do aprendizado sobre natureza, ecologia, esportes e muito mais! De forma contextualizada, revisaremos o alfabeto em Inglês, aprofundando-nos nas dinâmicas de pronúncia e suas estruturas. Todo planejamento é antecipado, tendo em mente que o ensino deva ser divertido, encorajador e, acima de tudo, deva fazer sentido para a criança.
Estamos todos aguardando ansiosos pelo que vem por aí!
